#BPL14 predictions

by Val Febbo on February 17, 2022

With #BPL14 just around the corner, some of Australia’s most knowledgable bowls minds have sent in their predictions for next week’s history-making tournament in Moama.

The made-for-television event will incorporate more matches with its expansion to ten teams, making the coveted trophy even more difficult to win.

Let’s find out who our experts think will bring home the BPL silverware:

Clive Adams – Rinkside Live commentator, The Right Line co-host & Regional Bowls Manager
Winner: Perth Suns
Runner-up: Tweed Heads
MVP: Aaron Teys
Clive says: “Perth to win, because I am a Perth boy! Dawn is an absolute star, Ray is a jet and both he and Cody were phenomenal the last time each of them played in Moama.”

Kristina Krstic – Right at Home Australian Jackaroo
Winner: Melbourne Pulse
Runner-up: Perth Suns
MVP: Aaron Teys
Kristina says: “In the last two events at Moama, the Pulse have made it into finals. It is a solid solid team, Ellen and Barrie are phenomenal leads and Gary is extremely skilled with his wide selection of shots and great drive.”

Genevieve Delves – Right at Home Australian Jackaroo and Bowls Australia Board Director
Winner: Moama Steamers
Runner-up: Tasmania Tridents
MVP: Ray Pearse
Genevieve says: “The language difficulties they may experience could work to their advantage. The Scot, Canadian and half-Dutch Aussie walk into a bar.

“I’m also not sure it’s wise backing against Tash living under the same roof, and Kevin should know those greens pretty well by now.”

Lynsey Clarke – Right at Home Australian Jackaroo, The Right Line co-host & BPL coverage co-host
Winner: Tweed Heads Ospreys
Runner-up: Moama Steamers
MVP: Aaron Teys & Ryan Bester
Lynsey says: “I can’t go past the mighty mighty Ospreys for an unprecedented third straight title! Aside from being my awesome home club, the Teysie Factor is too dangerous to go past. Add to that his super strong and successful relationship with Corey and the talent of our Aussie dynamo in Chloe, you’ve got the triple threat there. In BPL all three need to be playing well to win the title and I’d back this team to do it again. How could I forget to mention the incredible grounding and experienced guidance of Turls urging them on from the sideline? He’s the real MVP!”

Jesse Noronha – Right at Home Australian Jackaroo
Winner: Tweed Heads Ospreys
Runner-up: Sydney Lions
MVP: Gary Kelly
Jesse says: “It’s pretty hard to go past the form of the Tweed Heads Ospreys after the double win in 2021, they’re in strong form going into the event.”

#BPL14 will run from February 21-25, 2022 and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sports NZ nightly from 4pm-10pm AEDT.
