BPL17: Day 2 wrap

by Lachlan Williams on February 21, 2023

No unbeaten sides remain after the completion of day two of #BPL17 at the Moama Bowling Club on Tuesday, but clear contenders have emerged from the pack.

Home-town team Moama Steamers sit atop the table with just one loss to their name after a dominant day of play. Dropping their first match of the day, they proceeded to win three games on the trot to move into top spot.

The last of those wins was a high-quality contest against the Moreton Bay Pirates to wrap up day two of play.

The Tweed Heads Ospreys are also looking ominous in second spot. Just like the Steamers, the Ospreys would lose their first match of the day before storming away to a 6-1 record after seven rounds.

The Ospreys appear to have recaptured some of their title-winning form that saw them capture three of four BPL crowns between BPL10 and BPL13.

The Sydney Lions sit one win back in third spot, but still boast an impressive +59 shot difference, with their strong form continuing.

More than 10 rounds are still to be played out, but a mini logjam is beginning to form in the middle of the table, with just one win separating fourth and seventh.

After an unbeaten first day, the Adelaide Pioneers managed just one win from four attempts on Tuesday, but still hold onto fourth spot.

The Pulse, Pirates and eXtreme all remain in the hunt with three wins each, but will need improvement on moving day on Wednesday.

The Suns and Hawks have plenty of work to do with two wins, while the Tridents have been a little unlucky to record just the one victory so far.
