BPL17: Day 3 wrap

by Aidan Davis on February 22, 2023

Three contenders have primed themselves for a title tilt at BPL17 following the third night of action from Moama Bowling Club.

The Sydney Lions, Tweed Heads Ospreys and Moama Steamers are locked in a log-jam at the top of the table, concluding Wednesday’s action on nine wins from 12 rubbers to appear all but destined to progress to Friday’s final action, barring any major meltdowns.

The Lions, who claimed the coveted trophy last time the event was staged in Moama during BPL14, head the leader board, one-and-a-half set points clear of the Ospreys, who have one up on the Steamers.

Moreton Bay Pirates and Melbourne Pulse round out the top five, both three victories behind the top trio, while the Gold Coast Hawks and Adelaide Pioneers are one win outside the top five, on five triumphs from the 12 starts.

Perth Suns sit just outside, in sixth, after toppling the Steamers in the tie-break of the night’s last game of broadcast action, to remain undefeated on the television rink from four contests.

Melbourne Extreme and Tasmania Tridents find themselves further afield, on just four and two wins respectively.
