Cabramatta Bowling Club will continue to serve as the sport’s Centre of Excellence. In a coup for the sport’s high performance program, Cabramatta Bowling Club and Bowls Australia have inked a deal that will see the club continue as the sport’s national Centre of Excellence for at least the 2016/17 financial year.

Cabramatta plays a key role in supporting the National Training Centre program, which is overseen by National Coach Steve Glasson, particularly in relation to the NSW/ACT NTC program, which is headed by National Assistant Coach Gary Willis.

Glasson said he was extremely pleased that Cabramatta would continue their valued support of the program.

“Firstly, on behalf of Bowls Australia, I would like to publicly express my sincere gratitude to Cabramatta Bowling Club’s Board and General Manager Barry Watkins for their continued support and assistance in developing the nation’s next batch of international and national stars,” Glasson said.

“This partnership and the use of Cabramatta’s state-of-the-art facilities provides the National Training Centre program with a fantastic opportunity to further enhance the ability of players and provides the ideal platform for them to achieve their goal of one day representing Australia.”

Cabramatta, as the Centre of Excellence, makes their facilities available to the NSW NTC squad to host regular training sessions and camps, as well as numerous other events and functions.

The NTC program is the sport’s second-tier high performance pathway, which aims to serve as a feeder program for the Australian Jackaroos by identifying and developing players earmarked for future international representation.

In addition to Cabramatta Bowling Club, Bowls Australia would also like to thank Bowls NSW and Women’s Bowls NSW for their continued support of the National Training Centre program in NSW.
