The 2011 and 2015 event winner managed to overcome Australian Jackaroo Barrie Lester, 9-7, 10-4 to book his ticket to yet another decider, which boasts a $6,000 winner’s purse and $3,000 to the runner-up.

Luckily the match was filmed for The Bowls Show, to appear on SBS from September 4, because spectators we left in awe of one end in particular, which has been described as a once in a life-time showing.

In a show of precision, Henry drew three touchers with his first three deliveries, only for Lester to clear the deck of all three with a rocket of a drive, leaving him with shot bowl and Henry with about a foot of room to draw. Instead, Henry launched his own bomb, collecting the jack and blasting it into the ditch, where his touchers came into play to secure 3 shots.

The man affectionately known as King Henry, due to his dominance on the indoor surface, has moved to within striking distance of his third national indoor title but is yet to learn who stands in his way.

Henry is forced to eagerly await the name of his final opponent over night, with the second men’s semi-final between 17 year-old Curtis Hanley, from Melbourne, and Australian Open singles champion Aron Sherriff, who has been handed the plum blue-ribbon singles role at the upcoming World Bowls Championships, scheduled for 9.00am tomorrow morning.

The second women’s semi-final between Australian Open women’s singles winner Natasha Scott and 20 year-old Samantha Noronha, from Club Merrylands, is poised to commence at 2.00pm.
