Grant submissions successful in the west

Bowling Clubs have fared well in the latest distribution of grants by the Department of Sport and Rec in Western Australia. The Department of Sport and Recreation recently announced the successful recipients of small sporting grants for July 2015/16 and bowling clubs in Western Australia have fared well.

Five bowling clubs had their grants for re-surfacing synthetic greens approved with a total of $235,000 being injected into improving bowling facilities across the west.

The five successful clubs are:

Spearwood- $57,000 for the replacement of a synthetic green

Regional Bowls Manager Clive Adams says this was very much needed and a great result for a hard working club.

“Add this successful grant application to the recent announcement of a $9M project in Cockburn, and this is a huge boost for the sport in this area,” said Adams.

Gosnells – $35,000 for conversion of their last grass green to synthetic

RBM Clive Adams says Gosnells is a perennial grant winner and reigning Club of the Year.

“This grant will allow the club to fully take advantage of synthetic surfaces with no requirement of the costs of maintaining grass greens,” said Adams.

Yarloop – $41,000 for replacing of a synthetic green

Yarloop’s current green was in tatters, so for the sport to continue, this was absolutely necessary according to Adams.

Lake Yealering- $59,000 to convert from grass to synthetic

Wyalkatchem – $43,000 to re-surface a synthetic

These successful grants are great news all round for our sport; the grants process is hugely competitive across all sports so it’s great to see so many successes for Lawn Bowls.
