“Inspirational Australian captain Lynsey Clark” remains in the hunt for a Commonwealth Games position Inspirational Australian captain Lynsey Clarke answered doubts about her claims for a Commonwealth Games berth with a dominant performance against Malaysia last week, as Renard Peters reports for the Courier Mail.

Clarke’s position in the Jackaroos’ set -up was under a cloud when she was omitted from the line -up that contested the important Eight Nations in Scotland this year.

The Helensvale star bounced back in spectacular style last week, winning six of her seven games at Ocean Grove in Geelong.

The 30- year -old has sent a bold message to the national selectors that she will not easily give up a Games spot.

Australia’s squad members will enter the new year buoyed after winning the Test series 4 -1 against formidable opposition, which included several Commonwealth Games medallists.

But there will be plenty of headaches when the selection panel whittles the squad down to the final 10 players.

Youngster Dylan Fisher, from Melbourne, appeared targeted at the 2018 Games on the Gold Coast but his development is such that he is not out of the running for Glasgow. He won all six matches against Malaysia, including two singles contests.

Tweed Heads’ Kristy Thatcher also performed with composure in her first international appearance.

Sunshine Coast-bred Kelsey Cottrell has done almost enough to confirm her spot for the Games, behind Karen Murphy, who’s considered a certainty despite being a shock absentee from Delhi in 2010.

Helensvale pair Brett Wilkie and Mark Casey and NSW sharpshooter Aron Sherriff are in prime position for the men’s team.
