Jr. Jack Attack in the west

by admin on January 11, 2016

Jr. Jack Attack is a great way to encourage kids to play Lawn Bowls in a safe and enjoyable environment.  Bowls Australia has 16 Regional Bowls Managers employed around the country and one of the important roles for a RBM is to assist clubs and schools to increase lawn bowls’ participation.

Bowls Australia’s new participation program Jr. Jack Attack, designed especially for kids, allows RBM’s and clubs who have purchased Jr. Jack Attacks kits to take the sport of bowls to the kids.

Previously, we have always tried to take kids to the club environment, but it is difficult to coordinate transport logistics and access to the greens, as well as availability of surfaces, so Bowls Australia has devised a program to run on any surface within the school environment.

Having identified the limitations of children using full-size bowls that have been designed for adults, the Jr. Jack Attack initiative comes in the form of a kit that includes a carry bag, 32 light-weight rubber bowls, eight jacks, 50 cones, a target score mat, eight stepping mats, activity cards, and clubs who purchase two kits will also receive a complimentary scoring wedge, providing all the tools for a whole school class to participate concurrently.

WA Regional Bowls Manager Clive Adams has shared one of his Jr. Jack Attack success stories from over in the west.

Don’t forget to ask your RBM to show you the new Jr. Jack Attack kits which are not only perfect for school groups but also involving kids in barefoot bowls parties at your club without the concerns of property damage or injuries.
