International raiders take aim at $250k Aus Open-

A host of the sport’s heavy hitters have advanced through to the blue-ribbons women’s singles knockout rounds of the $250,000 Australian Open today.

With eight Malaysians also qualifying for the knockout stages of the women’s singles, there will be plenty of high quality matches taking place this Saturday.

Remember ladies, it’s an 11:45am start for the first match of the day, the round of 128 so enjoy that sleep in. 

June 15 preview – its pairs all round! 

The men’s pairs are now in full swing with the second day of sectional matches taking place across ten Gold Coast clubs. 

The match of the round this morning was between Club Helensvale greats Brett Wilkie and Nathan Rice taking on fellow Australian Jackaroo team mate Wayne Ruediger and his two-time Australian Champion of Champion winner Scott Thulborn. 

The first of the women’s pairs matches commenced today with defending champions Emma Brown and Noelene Dutton the pick of the bunch.

Queensland armed bowlers team up for the world’s biggest bowls festival-

2016 will be the first time that the Australian Open will see teams of Armed Bowlers whom represent the Maroon Arm Bowlers Association.

This year the Maroon Armed Bowlers Association has entered three sides into the $250,000 Australian Open consisting of a ladies team and two men’s teams to compete in the open pairs and fours.

Members of the Maroon Armed Bowlers Association come from all parts of Queensland and later in the year will host the National Arm Bowlers Tournament played in September 2016, proudly supported by Broadbeach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast.
