The prestigious National Champion of Champions will be hosted by Victorian club Keilor from October 5-7 and will feature the best of the best singles champions from around the country. Keilor Bowls Club has been selected by Bowls Australia to host one of the premier national events on the calendar, the 2016 National Champion of Champions from October 5 to 7 is bound for Victoria.

Keilor BC will host each State and Territory champion of champion singles winner in a round robin format, with the winner booking themselves a spot in the World Champion of Champions as Australia’s representative.

Ten Victorian bowls clubs put forward their proposals to host the national event; however it was Keilor Bowls Club that impressed the most and will no doubt be an extremely hospitable host for the competitors and spectators during the three days of competition.

Bowls Australia’s Events and Competition Manager Mark Casey met with Keilor BC Executive Secretary Bob Duddington and bowls section President Maureen Sutton this week for an inspection of the club and was very impressed with the facilities.

“The Keilor Bowls Club will provide a fantastic venue for the 2016 National Champion of Champions; I’m really happy that the club has won the rights to host such a prestigious event,” said Casey.

“Both their greens are of a high standard so I’m sure the players competing in the championships will be very satisfied.”

Casey, a former member of Keilor Bowls Club said it was an extra special announcement for him on a personal note.

“Keilor was the first club I played division one pennant at, I have fond memories of the club and the members; it’s where my bowls career kicked off,” said Casey.

The winner of the 2016 National Champion of Champions to be held at Keilor will represent Australia in the 2017 World Champion of Champions hosted by powerhouse Sydney club St Johns Park.

The 2015 National Champion of Champions was held at Coolum Beach with Australian Jackaroo Natasha Scott (NSW) and APL01 MVP Scott Thulborn (SA) claiming honours; the pair will represent Australia at the World Champion of Champions at Club Helensvale in November this year.
