There’s just one more round remaining to solidify positions in the gold/silver or bronze medal matches of the opening four disciplines of the 2017 Gold Coast Multi-Nations.

Australia’s men’s triples GREEN team is guaranteed of a gold medal opportunity regardless of this session’s result, while the men’s pairs and women’s fours ultimate deciders will feature an Australian team, it’s just a matter of which one.

In the men’s pairs, New Zealand cannot be toppled for top spot, but the names of their Australian opponents involved in that final is still up for debate, with the GREEN team just 1 point ahead of GOLD team going into the last rubber, but either team capable of progressing.

It’s a similar scenario for the women’s fours, with GREEN team currently leading by 2 points, and likely to feature in the golden decider, while the GOLD team is also a chance of being their opponent, currently in second spot, but either team could potentially be usurped by Canada.

In the women’s singles, there’s a log-jam of four players on 12 points, so a victory is likely required to earn a berth.

GOLD representative Karen Murphy has the slight ascendancy going into the last rubber over her countrymate Natasha Scott, by 3 shots, but is 24 shots behind the current leader, Jo Edwards from New Zealand.

It’s poised to be an exciting finish to the first half of the disciplines, with GREEN team facing New Zealand and GOLD pitted against Canada.

Across the Broadbeach greens, the para-sport component of the event commenced with their opening round.

Again, Australia has two teams competing in the event, but as this is a qualifying event for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in the para-sport event, only the GOLD team’s results count.

Lynne Seymour and Jake Fehlberg enjoyed a 15-12 opening win in the mixed pairs, while Tony Bonnell, Chris Flavel and Ken Hanson joined them in the winners’ circle, with a 23-11 victory in the bowlers with a disability open triples.
