National Rankings – August 2023

by Val Febbo on September 12, 2023

The month continues to get better for Right at Home Jackaroo Corey Wedlock as he regains the mantle of the number one ranked player in the nation following the latest National Rankings Update.

Not only has he concluded the World Bowls Championships with two gold medals on debut and been a part of the overall men’s winning team, but he leapfrogs his fellow Gold Coast 2023 teammate in Aron Sherriff into number one spot.

Tasmania’s Joshua Walker-Davis jumps into second ahead of Sherriff, who lost points after falling in the Australian Indoor Championships quarterfinals to Ray Pearse in his title defence.

Australian Open men’s singles runner up Jacob Nelson maintains his place in the top five, while Jackaroo Ben Twist jumps up to fifth from seventh.

The women’s rankings sees Victorian dominance with Cassandra Millerick maintaining her place atop the tree with a hefty buffer to the rest.

Skyrocketing into second is Australian Indoor Championships women’s singles winner Samantha Atkinson, who’s week at Club Tweed has turned many heads around the nation.

Former World Champion Ellen Falkner MBE remains within the top five after a sensational few months, while Natasha Van Eldik and Olivia Cartwright maintain their positions following the acquisition of an abundance of points at the Australian Open.

Below are the latest National Player Rankings, as of August 31, 2023.
