National Rankings – May 2023

by Val Febbo on June 9, 2023

With one month to play in the 2022-23 calendar, both the men’s and women’s categories have seen a massive shake up in the latest National Rankings Update following a massive month of May.

The race for number one in the men’s rankings sees Corey Wedlock dethrone his Right at Home Jackaroos and World Bowls Championship teammate Aron Sherriff to claim pole position ahead of the Australian Open, the concluding event of the cycle.

Wedlock leads Tasmania’s Josh Walker-Davis by 51 points, with Sherriff just one further back in third position.

Victoria’s Colin Veenendaal rises one place to fourth, while Queenslander and Pathways Jackaroo Kane Nelson drops two spots but remains in the top five.

In the women’s rankings, Kelsey Cottrell remains ahead of Victoria’s Triss Doolan but the margin has been cut from 191 to 99, the smallest gap that the Queenslander has boasted since she ascended to the top of the mountain in June last year.

Following the duo in third place is Lynsey Clarke, who leapt into the top three following a sensational Queensland pairs title with Claire Turley.

Cassandra Millerick fell back a place to sit in fourth, while Queensland’s Wendy Wilson rounds out the top quintet following a strong month.

Below are the latest National Player Rankings, as of May 31, 2023.
