A pair of Queenslanders have earned top spot in the men’s and women’s rankings following the conclusion of the 2021/22 national rankings period.

Australian Open women’s singles and fours champion Kelsey Cottrell added a plethora of points to her tally as she put daylight between herself and second placed Tasmanian Rebecca Van Asch, who increased her position after joining Cottrell in the victorious fours team at Broadbeach.

South Australia’s Laini McGorman finished in third position, while Right at Home Jackaroo Dawn Hayman followed closely in fourth.

Sharing fifth position were Western Australia’s Hailey Packer and Birmingham-bound Lynsey Clarke.

In the men’s update Nick Cahill remained in top spot following strong recent performances, with fellow Queenslander and Australian Open men’s singles champion Aron Sherriff storming home to end the period in second place.

Victorian Thor Shannon secured third place ahead of Jackaroo Corey Wedlock with South Australian Nathan Pedersen rounded out the top quintet, following his men’s fours championship at the Australian Open.

Both Cottrell and Cahill will collect a $3,000 cheque at the sport’s 2021 Awards Night in recognition of finishing as Australia’s number one ranked female and male bowlers for the 2021/22 season.
