New Zealand win Vision Impaired Trans Tasman trophy

New Zealand has taken the honours at the Vision Impaired Trans Tasman event, securing just their second win in seven stagings. Despite a valiant last-ditch bid from Australia, New Zealand poached the silverware at the Vision Impaired Trans Tasman over the weekend.

Australia launched a heroic comeback on Saturday’s third test, winning eight of a possible 12 matches to secure the final test, but it was not enough to steal the overall victory from the jaws of defeat, with the Blindjacks’ two test victory gifting the nation just their second overall win in seven events.

The New Zealand contingent won Thursday’s first test by one game, and backed up their performance with a slender second test win, by a margin of 8 shots after both teams split the game points.

The quadrennial event will next be staged in 2020.

Bowls Australia congratulates the 16 Australian and New Zealand representatives and their respective Directors for their performances at the 2016 Vision Impaired Trans Tasman in Auckland.
