Nicholson and Collis join Bowls Australia Team
Two new staff members have commenced employment at Bowls Australia this month Bowls Australia is proud to introduce two new staff members who have commenced in the roles of Regional Bowls Manager and Northern Territory Operations Manager.
Scot Nicholson has commenced in the role of Regional Bowls Manager in the Eastern and Southern Melbourne/Gippsland area, replacing the recently departed Barrie Lester.
Scot has experience in a variety of roles in both the public and private sectors and was most recently a Sports Reporter for The Courier in Ballarat.
Scot is an avid bowler who was recently appointed as a Director on the Bowls Victoria Board and has previously been the President of the Ballan Bowling Club.
“I applied for the role of Regional Bowls Manager because I am passionate about growing bowls participation and development at the grass roots level of the sport,” said Nicholson.
“After seeing how successful the RBM programme has been since its inception, I was excited to be able to contribute to clubs, divisions and regions to improve and contribute to the future of the sport of bowls.
“I’m excited to meet all of the clubs in my region and create long lasting relationships with all stakeholders.
“I am extremely passionate about growing junior and female participation in bowls and look forward to sharing ideas with people in clubs who I’m sure are passionate about our sport as well.”
Avon Collis has been appointed to the position of Bowls Operations Manager in the Northern Territory and has already commenced in the part-time role.
This is a three day a week position which encompasses the roles of Executive Officer and Regional Bowls Manager.
Avon holds a bachelor of Business, Management and Accounting and has diverse skills and experience including working in the Australian Defence Force, Owner/Manager of Gloria Jeans Coffees and a Business Systems Advisor.
“Since first contact with Bowls Australia it seems like a great organisation to work for with great people and an even better culture,” said Collis.
“Everyone I’ve met so far seems to be very focussed on improving the sport and are open to ideas of collaboration and modernisation.
“I was attracted to the role because of the ability to help clubs improve their operations to become more efficient, increase membership and ultimately spend more time actually playing this great game.”
