NZ swipe first test of vision impaired Trans Tasman

by admin on April 28, 2016

The Vision Impaired Trans Tasman commenced in Auckland yesterday in spectacular fashion, with New Zealand pinching the opening test by just one match. New Zealand took the honours from the opening day of the Vision Impaired Trans Tasman at Browns Bay in Auckland yesterday.

The Blindjacks secured the first of three tests by a slender 3 points, the result of just one additional win in the morning session.

Australia will look to respond today in the penultimate test, in order to keep their hopes alive of defending the title they last claimed at Rosehill in Sydney in 2011.

The green and gold contingent have enjoyed a strong performance at the event in recent stagings, having won five of the last six clashes at the quadrennial event.

The test series consists of a session of singles and a round of mixed pairs each day, with each match time-limited to three hours.

The players are graded into four different vision impaired categories (B1, B2, B3, B4) according to their visual impairment.

Australia are represented by the following eight vision impaired players in this year’s competition, with each player having their own Director to assist on and off the green.
