Perth Suns make BPL14 squad change

Due to ongoing concerns regarding travel and quarantining requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bowls Premier League (BPL) franchise, the Perth Suns, has confirmed changes to the team that will don the orange and black uniform at BPL14 in Moama later this month.

Bowls WA’s Suns were set to make history at the tournament, as the first team to field two women in a team of three, with Dawn Hayman, Cody Packer, and Kristina Krstic set to make the trip to the Murray River border town.

However, due to restrictions concerning the return to Western Australia, Krstic has made the unfortunate decision to withdraw from this February’s competition, as has Suns coach Pieter Harris.

Hayman will remain in the squad, as will Packer, who will make the trip from Perth and also attend the Jackaroos camp on the Gold Coast in early March, as he looks to earn a spot in the national squad.

Re-joining the team will be Ray Pearse, who played for the Suns in both BPL12 and BPL13 in 2021, finishing as the runner-up in the competition MVP to Scott Thulborn in Moama as he skipped the franchise to the finals before a narrow defeat to the Tweed Heads Ospreys in the opening final.

Josh Thornton will join the team as coach, reprising his BPL12 position from last year.

#BPL14 will run from February 21-25, 2022 and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo and Sky Sports NZ nightly from 4pm-10pm AEDT.
