Schraner and Whitehead secure 2018 Australian Champion of Champions titles

by Aidan Davis on October 12, 2018

Tasmanian Lee Schraner has defended his Australian Champion of Champions crown with victory once more, while Victorian Kylie Whitehead secured her second national title in less than 12 months.

Schraner, also an Emerging BCiB Australian Jackaroo, defeated Barrie Lester 21-12 in the final round of the event, completing his undefeated run at the Kingborough Bowls Club, Hobart.

Whitehead defeated 17-year-old local favourite Lauren Banks 21-15 in the final round of play, which happened to be a gold-medal playoff between Victoria and Tasmania on both sides of the field.

The Victorian also went through undefeated and both players have now qualified to represent Australia at the 2019 World Champion of Champions.
