Short Ends: World Bowls Championships Edition – Lynsey Clarke

by Val Febbo on April 24, 2023

The Right at Home Jackaroos World Bowls Championships team share some information that you might not have known about them in the past.

Next up, Lynsey Clarke.

Earliest bowls memory: Playing social bowls with my mum, dad and my little sister, everyone had to bring a plate of something for afternoon tea. Lots of homemade yummies!

Finest moment on the green: Got a few – winning Commonwealth Games gold in 2006, World Championships gold in 2008 and 2012 and all my AO titles are right up there too.

Favourite dish: Anything Mexican – tacos, nachos, enchiladas, quesadillas, chips and guac – give me it all!

AFL or NRL: NRL – Dad and I have followed the Broncos since I was a kid! Although after marrying a Victorian, AFL gets most of the TV time in our house these days.

Tea or coffee: Coffee!!!!!!!

Career/work aspiration: High performance coaching with a passion for elite athlete wellbeing management.

First celebrity crush: Hmmm it’s hard to remember way back. Probably someone from those TV Hits or Smash Hits Magazines, I had a wall full of posters. Maybe Dieter Brummer or Peter Andre hahaha!

Three items you couldn’t live without and why: Aside from the obvious – my family – three items would be: My Phone – use it for everything these days; My car – so I can get where I need to go; My bed – I LOVEEEEE my sleep!

Outside of bowls what would be your dream job? Hmmm tricky, definitely working in Sport somewhere. Love doing the BPL Hosting, so perhaps some glam sports TV hosting gig!

Favourite non-bowls athlete and why: Roger Federer.  Just the way he goes about competing. Fiercely determined, humble, driven, strong work ethic, just overall a class human being. Such a great role model.

Favourite movie: Don’t really have a favourite movie as such, love a good romcom though.

Favourite TV show: The Blacklist

Cats or dogs: Dogs 100%

Which player would be the most likely to be invited to Coach Gary Willis’ house for dinner? Probably Disco… they’ve got their special coach/athlete relationship going on so they could debrief their games together, plus they both play out of Cabra so they would probably hang out a bit together anyway.

What reality show would you like to appear on? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (but like an easy question one)

Funniest Jackaroo & why: Krissy – just always cracks me up with some random reenactment of an event or person or occurrence from the day.

What music revs you up? Robbie Williams

Your biggest pet peeve & why? Rudeness – there’s no need for it!

Proudest non-bowls accomplishment: Birth of my two beautiful children (Kenzie 7 and Harvey 4)

Which teammate is most likely to forget their keys? Disco

Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo: Nintendo Switch – kids love it and lots of good family games on there.

Favourite social media app: Facebook or LinkedIn.

Most embarrassing memory you have: Can’t really recall anything specific. It’s not uncommon for me to do something ‘blooper-ish’ on the daily so I don’t really get embarrassed all that easy these days.

Ideal holiday destination and why: Queenstown or Fiji – because they’re the next two destinations on our bucket list to take the kids. We’d love them to experience a snow holiday, but also love the sun surf and island life vibe.
