Sides 2019: Dominant NSW off to a flyer

New South Wales has made the perfect start to their 2019 Australian Sides Championships campaign, topping both the Men’s Alley Shield and Women’s Marj Morris Trophy standings following Day 1.

In perfect conditions at the Ettalong Bowling Club in the Central Coast north of Sydney, NSW, the Blues, who also boast the defending Women’s champions, enjoyed pivotal overall victories over traditional rivals Queensland from the first session of play, before completing a comfortable win over the Northern Territory to close play.

The NT Men narrowly missed out on a huge upset to start their campaign, going down at the death to defending-champions Victoria having led the match at the pointy end.

Meanwhile, Tasmanian Men and Western Australian Women remain the only two other undefeated teams from two rounds of play, while the ACT and NT are the only two teams to remain without a win.

Kristina Krstic (WA) was the most prolific female skip with an impressive shot difference of 38, while Mark Nitz (TAS) and Ray Pearse (NSW)’s equal-shot difference of 20 saw the duo top the male skip ladder after two rounds.
