Vale: John Vance OAM
Bowls Australia (BA) is saddened to hear of the recent passing of former Australian Blind Bowlers Association (ABBA) president and Vision-Impaired bowler, John Vance OAM.
John was a most admired and respected member of the Australian bowls community and his contribution to the vision-impaired society was profound.
Prior to the loss of his sight, John was a Specialist Paediatrician.
He enjoyed presidency of ABBA from 2010 to 2015 leading the Australian team to unprecedented success and was also president of Retinitis Pigmentosa Association, as well as a board member of Guide Dogs Queensland.
John loved the sport of bowls and was a proud state representative with Queensland, deservingly awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his contribution to bowls, his medical practice and community work.
BA extends its condolences to the Vance family.
