Hours of hard work and dedication have paid off for West Rosebud Bowls & Croquet Club’s Brian Richardson, recently named as the 2021 Good Sports Volunteer of the Year.

Richardson has been recognised for going above and beyond in contributing to the positive atmosphere at West Rosebud.

It is quite the achievement from Richardson, with more than 10,000 clubs belonging to Good Sports.

“Some volunteers are nominated for their years of involvement, or for the positions they may have held. And then there is Brian Richardson, undeniably the greatest clubman,” West Rosebud president Phil Brown told Good Sports.

“Brian is self-driven to improve the lives of others and always finds the time to engage with those who need a minute of his time.”

“Brian’s hard work around the grounds of the West Rosebud Bowling and Croquet Club supports us in creating a more welcoming and safer environment for all members,” said Phil.

“We get to see the incredible impact he has on the club every day and we’re so proud that others now get to see that too with this Good Sports Volunteer of the Year Award.”

Richardson typifies the ideal volunteer, lending a hand to improve the club he loves, notably playing a key role in the club’s gardens.

He receives $750 prize money, which he said he will donate back to the club to assist in repairing the ride on mower.
