2019 Australian Championships: Baus & Stewart secure Singles titles

by Bowls Australia on December 5, 2019

It was a golden day for New South Wales’ Matthew Baus and Queensland’s Chloe Stewart, who secured the 2019 Australian Championships coveted Singles titles.

With both finales coming to a close in sync with one another, Baus and Stewart saw off Blake Butler (WA) and Genevieve Delves (NSW) respectively, with both finals following a similar pattern.

Both matches were squared at 10 apiece as all finalists battled for ascendency, before the two ultimate victors ran away with the contest with powerful displays in the second half of their matches.

For both players, it’s their first Australian Championships Singles crown, while for Stewart, she adds this title to her Triples title from earlier in the week.

Elsewhere, recently-crowned Victorian Open winner Jay Bye-Norris (VIC) produced a dominant display to secure the Men’s bronze medal, while Kylie Whitehead (VIC) and Kristina Krstic (WA) put on a wonderful exhibition of bowls which ended in the Women’s bronze medal to the Victorian.

Friday will see the 2019 Australian Championships come to a close with the newly-introduced Mixed Pairs.
