Greater Dandenong clubs benefitting from new network

by Aidan Davis on October 23, 2018

Bowls clubs in the City of Greater Dandenong (Victoria) are benefiting from a networking program to grow the sport.

Meeting every two months, clubs in the municipality, along with council staff and the Regional Bowls Manager come together to share success stories and create new ideas to increase participation.

Topics include but are not limited to club updates, council updates, sport and recreation, property/leasing, communications/marketing, Bowls Australia and Bowls Victoria updates and general business.

Furthermore, it provides the opportunity for the council to understand more about the needs of clubs and promote the sport of Bowls while using its connections to engage other community groups to use club facilities.

These forums offer an opportunity for clubs to openly discuss challenges, along with achievements so that everyone can learn and adopt best practices for club development.

The idea to form this valuable resource came from discussions between council sport and recreation staff and the Regional Bowls Manager to offer more combined services to the member organisations.

Meeting venues are hosted on a rotational basis at the grassroots clubs in the area that range from Burden Park (Springvale South), Noble Park, Dandenong Club, Dandenong RSL Recreation and Keysborough.
