Krizanic jumps Scott in National Rankings
Australian Jackaroos Carla Krizanic and Aron Sherriff lead the National Rankings race The race is heating up as we pass the half way mark of the 12 month rolling National Rankings System.
Dual 2016 World Bowls Gold Medallist Carla Krizanic’s recent win in the lucrative Warrnambool Australia Day Pairs has allowed Krizanic to regain the number one position with a 38.2 point lead over 2016 Triple World Title holder Natasha Scott.
Carla’s partner at Warrnambool, Canadian representative Kelly McKerihen has climbed to a record high 3rd spot having recently relocated to Australia full-time.
Western Australian State Singles Champion Helen Morss has moved into 22nd spot; however Morss remains 16.2 points behind WA’s highest ranked bowler Lisa Featherby.
Queenslanders have a strong presence in the women’s rankings with five players inside the top 10; Ester Regan leads the way in fourth position followed by Cassandra Millerick (sixth), Chloe Stewart (seventh), Dee-Anne Robertson (eighth) and Lynsey Clarke sitting in tenth.
In the Men’s rankings, Australian Jackaroo Aron Sherriff retained the coveted number one spot but has plenty of challengers hot on his heels.
Tasmania’s Lee Schraner and World Bowls Pairs Gold Medallist Aaron Wilson have moved into second and fifth spots respectively after teaming up to win the Penguin Classic Pairs in Tasmania.
15 year old National Junior Singles Champion Jono Davis surged into fourth position with his victory in the prestigious Ballina Summerland Singles; backing up from his win in the NSW Champion of Champion Singles.
Queenslander Sean Ingham’s win in the Ballina Pairs and runner-up to Davis in the Ballina Singles sees him move into 16th spot.
Newest Australian Jackaroo Squad member Corey Wedlock retained his high ranking of 12th when he safely defended his South Pacific Singles Title in Wollongong last month.
February will see little change as the only player in the top rankings to lose February 2016 points will be tenth placed Garry Ball (Victoria) who, unless successful in defending the Ocean Grove R T Edgar Fours, could slip to 19th.
There are now 995 Ladies and 1899 Men in the Rankings matrix.
