Bowls Australia (BA) is saddened to hear of the recent passing of former President Beryl Brennan.

Brennan, an esteemed contributor to the sport on the national stage and in her home state of Western Australia, played an integral part in the unification of the sport’s national Men’s and Women’s associations.

Beryl was the last President of the Australian Women’s Bowling Council, from 2001-2002, and became the first unified Vice-President of the newly established BA from 2002-2004, before taking over the reigns as the sport’s first female national President from 2004 to 2005.

Brennan’s administrative record in the sport of bowls in Western Australia was unsurpassed, having contributed as a selector of the state women’s team, as well as lending her experience as the Chair of Selectors to the state’s Over-60s competition and as a representative of the WA High Performance Committee.

Brennan was a life member and vice-patron of Bowls WA, and was inducted into BA’s Hall of Fame in 2013, in the ‘General Member, 2000-present’ category.

BA extends its condolences to the Brennan family.
